Setting up the Windows device (after first login)

After installing Windows, the following tasks must be performed once:

  1. After your first login, wait approximately 15 minutes to allow the setup to complete its tasks in the background. Ignore any pop-ups or notifications in the taskbar (bottom right of the screen), and if OneDrive has already started syncing (also visible in the taskbar), wait until it is finished.
Next, restart your device to activate the security measures (BitLocker). This is the only way to mark your device as "Bellevue-compliant." Only after this step can you proceed with installing further optional applications.
  2. After restarting, open the Company Portal App (blue icon in the taskbar) to install optional applications.
We recommend installing the following applications:
    - Kofax Power PDF (-> PDF Converter)
    - Snagit (->Screenshooting Tool)
    - Barracuda Archive Search for Outlook (-> Mail Archive Plugin for Outlook)
    - Bloomberg Excel Add-In (when Bloomberg user!) -> Install the Bloomberg Office add-ins by going to the Start menu -> All -> Bloomberg -> Install Office add-ins
Multiple programs can be installed simultaneously.
  3. Install the company printer. Instructions can be found here: Add or remove printer, set default printer
  4. Self-monitoring of all basic functions:

Are the company drives available in Windows Explorer (e.g., L:\)?

    Yes No

Are Bellevue services accessible via the start menu (e.g., "BB MyAbacus", "BB ODS")?

    Yes No

Are the region, regional formats, and time zone correctly set? (-> The default value is set to CHE!)

    Yes No

Are my browser favorites present (synchronized)? If no, import favorites.

    Yes No

Is my Outlook signature correct? If not, change my Outlook signature.

    Yes No

Are there any errors in the Company Portal (blue icon in the taskbar) under "Download & Updates"?

    Yes No

Important information

  • The "Company Portal" (in the taskbar) is the central platform for managing your applications (installing, uninstalling, updating). Please let us know if an application is missing.
  • Please remember to restart your device weekly to install important security updates. Since updates can take some time to install, we recommend restarting after a workday when the device is plugged into a power source .
  • You are always connected to the Bellevue network provided by "Microsoft Global Secure Access", regardless of whether your device is connected via cable (with docking station) or via Wi-Fi/hotspot.
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader is no longer used. PDF files can be opened with any browser (Edge, Chrome). For more features, install Kofax Power PDF via the Company Portal.
  • Only files stored on your home drive H:\, company drives (e.g., L:\), SharePoint, or OneDrive will be available on the new device! If you have stored data in other locations, please follow this process: Review – Clean up – Move (to a suitable location).
  • The background can be changed. The lock screen cannot be changed for technical reasons!
  • USB devices such as memory sticks and external hard drives are not allowed and will be blocked.
  • Both Outlook Classic (the current version on Citrix) and Outlook (the new version) are installed on the new device. You are welcome to use the new Outlook. Please let us know if anything doesn't work as expected.
  • Your device is labelled "Bellevue - %Username%" on the underside.
